The Real Basics
Shawn Was:
Born in Edina, MN

Childhood in South MPLS, MN

Teen Years in Richfield, MN

Grew up and bought a house in Bloomington, MN, then sold that and moved to AZ.

Rented an apartment for about a year in Belize and enjoyed the remote working life in the Caribbean for a season.

Moved back to AZ until I met a gal in MN.

Married that gal, but things didn't work as planned...

We divorced and after a while alone, I decided to see what may be next.

How did Shawn and Tat Meet
The Tinder Conundrum...
In 2019 I was over a year out of a relationship. I was thinking about how someone goes out and meets people in these modern times. Since I'm generally cheap about internet services, I thought, "Hey, why not check out this tinder thing that many of my friends have been talking about." I know, I know. Tinder is thought to be a hookup site, but tools are just that... tools. You know what, tools are all about how you choose to use them. I chose to meet a few people and see what friendships may come. Instead of meeting some people, I met one person. Tat was my first match. After that first date I uninstalled Tinder. Why keep looking when perfection happened on the first swipe right.
That First Date
Sushi, of course.
So, after reading Tat's profile, I thought that perhaps she would acquiesce to enjoying some sushi. I invited her out to sushi at Nakamori Japanese Bistro in Edina. While we talked about many things, I had some real questions about tiny houses. I was wondering if that was a passing fad with her, or if she was serious. I was already 'slowly' working on a tiny house and had plans of traveling the nation in my not-so-tiny tiny house. We enjoyed that sushi and talked for more than an hour on a school night. Oh, and she said yes to another date, so that worked out.
Getting the Ring
And the Proposal:
So, the post office wasn't as expedient as I'd hoped. I also, maybe, waited too long before committing to the desired design. Tat had some very specific criteria... Couldn't be ridiculously expensive, preferring not the basic diamond, and certainly couldn't be crazy gaudy. There was other criteria too... No need to list it all. I eventually decided on what I wanted and made the purchase. It was supposed to arrive before a trip out east, and I was planning to propose while we were on a wooded walkabout. It arrived the day we returned. And since I was too excited to just sit on the ring for a while longer until some more special event came along, I decided to just ask Tat... In her living room. It wasn't the surprise I wanted it to be, but she was certainly surprised. Oh, and by proof of this site, and the invites you've already received, she said, "Yes!"
